Tilia – which is part of the untypical home building group and was previously known as Kier Living – has full planning approval for 217 new homes on the former landfill site, which was once home to the derelict Northampton–Peterborough railway.
The land has undergone extensive remediation and infrastructure preparation, with further remediation being undertaken by Tilia Homes.
Amerjit Atwal, Regional Managing Director for untypical’s central region, said: “Securing the Ransome Road site through Homes England marks an important milestone in our commitment to regenerating derelict land and bringing forward much-needed new homes.
“This site has stood unused for many years, and we’re proud to be giving it a new purpose. The development will provide a well-considered mix of homes and public spaces, designed to meet local needs and support the wider growth of Northampton.
“It also reflects our continued focus on tackling complex brownfield sites and investing in places where we can make a lasting, positive impact.”
Nearly half of the site will be transformed into open space’
Simon Dougall, Head – Disposals at Homes England, said: “Ransome Road is prime example of how we work with partners like Tilia Homes to progress challenging sites and create sustainable, well-designed neighbourhoods that people can be proud of.”
